Beta? Are we talking fractal aliens?

Alas, we are not talking about the awesomeness that was the sadly cancelled Defying Gravity. We are talking about a playlist in progress. I’ll have a general look and feel established, and then start throwing stuff into a sandbox and seeing what I can get to stick.

Tl;dr? Sure: This section is where I talk about tracks and or artists that I really, really like, and will likely make an appearance on a playlist and why. This is also where I start kicking around names for the playlist (remember the “What’s In a Name” section of the crafting process post?). The playlist we’re talking about today is named after my very current, just became employers: the Proforma Mix

But I digress, let’s get back to the topic at hand: I’m in the middle of creating the spring playlist, just in time for the Eurovision Song Contest (which, unlike last year with the previous employers) I will be able to watch at work during lunch. There’s not as much good music as there was by this point in time last year, but spring has only just begun, so there’s still time. I have a few good tracks locked in, including my picks for the Eurovision Song Contest, but I will do that in a separate post very VERY soon (tomorrow). Here’s a few notables that will appear on the Proforma Mix:

“Missing You (Ridney Re-work)” – Artful & Ridney feat. Terri Walker

The second Kay Rush leaked this as being part of the recently completed and forthcoming Unlimited XV, and I found out about it, I hunted this track down like a lion hunter in the Serengeti. My search was so totally worth it. Terri Walker is already in the butter zone, but this track takes me back to the heady days of the summers of 2007 and 2008, spending time in some swank clubs, blissed out to some quality soulful house.

“Fever (Ibiza Mix)” – Timofey feat. Lyya Rokk

Generally speaking, when I see “Ibiza Mix” on a track, I stay away from it. Why? Because it tends to be some kind of unholy David Guetta/Bob Sinclar inspired horrible electro/French house abomination that just turns me off. This track however is very prog. Timofeyputs just enough of everything to make this a modern track, with a very familiar feel. In turn, Lyya Rokk’s vocals just drip with sex, as this song intends to. A very solid track for the summer, even if it dropped last year and the compilation albums are just adding it.

“Breathe (Zed’s Dead Remix)” – The Prodigy

I know I’m a bit late to the party on this, since it dropped on the Super Bowl trailer for Fast 6. That said, I didn’t watch the Super Bowl, and hadn’t seen the trailer until the last day of April. Now first and foremost, I have The Fat of the Land, so any changes to that for me are damn near sacrosanct. So when I heard the opening to it slightly slower I was like, what’s this, bad editing? Then when I heard the dubstep, I was like, what the fuck is this? Aw HELL no! They ruined a great song just to put some CL4PTR4P wub in it. But I stuck with it, and you know what? It’s really not that bad.

These tracks, and few more including my Eurovision picks will be on the Now Playing post for this playlist once it’s completed next week, with Spotify players and links galore.

Until then, happy listening!
